
Tabitha has been appointed by our EXCOM to serve in a voluntary capacity as our Alberta Conference END IT NOW Coordinator
The goal of this ministry is to end abuse in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Tabitha is available to speak at our Alberta Conference churches. She will be facilitating training for our Pastors and Teachers. Tabitha will be partnering with Adventist psychologists, therapists, and social workers across Alberta to help our churches, schools and homes become safe spaces.
Tabitha Phiri, born in Zimbabwe, is a devoted mother and grandmother, trained pastor, and experienced mental health professional. She served with the East Zimbabwe Conference as a district pastor and later as Associate Director for Sabbath School and Children’s Ministries before moving to Canada in 1997.
She received her pastoral training from Solusi University, Zimbabwe, before moving to Canada in 1997. She later earned a Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science from Burman University and a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University, and is a Certified Canadian Psychotherapist. Her work includes extensive clinical therapy experience and years researching and supporting domestic violence victims within Alberta’s immigrant community.
Tabitha has received several honors, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, Alberta Immigrant Impact Award, the Diversity Award and Women of Excellence recognition. She was recently invited by the NAD to serve as an advocate for the Enditnow initiative in Canada, reflecting her commitment to healing, family well-being, and community transformation. She also enjoys gardening and traveling.
