The Edmonton Filipino Seventh-day Adventist Church (EDFIL) held a Health Emphasis Weekend on March 27–28, 2026, with the theme “Temple 101: Faithfully Fit in Christ.” The event highlighted the biblical principle that caring for one’s body is an act of worship, grounded in 1 Corinthians 6:19–20, which reminds believers that their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.

The weekend program began Friday evening with a series of presentations focusing on the first half of the CELEBRATIONS framework—an acronym representing 12 principles of healthful living promoted by the Adventist Health Ministries. These principles include Choices, Exercise, Liquid, Environment, Belief, Rest, Air, Temperance, Integrity, Optimism, Nutrition, and Social Support and Services. The sessions continued into Sabbath School presenting the second half, reinforcing the importance of holistic well-being rooted in faith.

During the Divine Hour Service on Sabbath, guest speaker Dr. Darlene Blaney delivered a message on obtaining total health, emphasizing the integration of physical, mental, and spiritual wellness.
Following the service, attendees gathered for a fellowship potluck featuring a variety of thoughtfully prepared vegetarian dishes, reflecting both health-conscious living and a spirit of community.
The afternoon program featured interactive health and wellness stations, where participants engaged in activities such as blood pressure and BMI checks, stress management techniques, nutrition education, and opportunities for prayer and meditation.

The event concluded with a lively trivia session, during which participants were awarded fresh produce for correct answers. A total of 60 pounds of fruits and vegetables were distributed, providing a lighthearted and meaningful close to the Sabbath program.

Organizers described the weekend as a reminder that being “faithfully fit” is not about appearance or perfection, but about daily stewardship—honoring God through one’s habits, thoughts, energy, and lifestyle.
