Entitled “The Holiday Trail to Heaven”

During the holiday season, our team committed to serving local communities in a meaningful and intentional way. On Christmas Eve, despite temperatures dropping to –41°C, two of us walked through the streets of Ndilǫ, a small Indigenous community just outside Yellowknife, delivering gift bags door to door. Each bag contained a copy of The Moccasin Trail to Heaven along with holiday chocolates, a small gesture intended to share hope, encouragement, and kindness with each household.
We returned on New Year’s Eve to continue this outreach, and several additional volunteers joined us. Although the weather remained bitterly cold, the spirit of service and fellowship strengthened our resolve.
At the end of January (January 31), we extended our efforts to Dettah, located approximately 30-45 minutes from Yellowknife. With the ice road open, travel time was reduced, allowing more members to participate. It was deeply moving to witness families, youth, and even parents with strollers joining the initiative. Thanks to the strong turnout, we were able to distribute literature throughout the entire community on a single visit.
Our goal is to personally deliver literature and connect with every Indigenous community within a 100-kilometer radius of Yellowknife, and to expand further during the warmer months. Our next planned communities are Edzo and Rae (Behchokǫ), approximately 100 kilometers northwest of the city.
The harvest is plentiful, and we remain prayerful and committed to serving wherever there is opportunity and need.
