Pastor Rob & Mhateo in Pool
Fort McMurray is always a challenging drive, especially in the winter. We made the drive up on the weekend of December 12-13. The cold was intense, and the roads demanded caution; but every moment of the journey was worth it.
When a committed 7th grader calls, sharing his desire to go all the way with Jesus and asking you to be there, you respond with faithful follow-through. That Sabbath, Mhateo Hyman made the decision to give his life to Jesus and be baptized. Following the morning sermon, I quickly changed into my baptismal clothes as the church continued singing—voices filled with anticipation for the sacred moment.
Elder Rex led the baptismal vows, and the wait was finally over. I stepped into the baptismal pool, Mhateo followed, And then—SPLASH, the moment we had all been waiting for took place.
There is something deeply moving about the baptismal waters, nothing beats the sound of that splash and what it means.
An invitation was then extended to anyone else who felt called to commit their lives fully to Jesus, and two additional people responded. It was a cold Sabbath outside but the church was filled with warmth, joy, and celebration.
