On Sunday, June 28, 2026, we hosted our public health and wellness initiative, the “YK Family Fun Walk,” aimed at raising local awareness for diabetes prevention and management.
- Participation: Despite an uncharacteristic and severe heat spell in the region, the event maintained a strong turnout. Out of 106 pre-registered participants, 46 individuals successfully attended and completed the walk.
- Demographics: The event saw diverse, multi-generational engagement, drawing participation from adults, teenagers, and young children.
- Safety Record: Due to proactive monitoring and volunteer support, no heat-related medical incidents or injuries were reported despite the sweltering conditions.
Community Impact & Media Engagement: The campaign served as a meaningful platform for personal disclosure and health advocacy:
- Several participants shared that their motivation for joining was directly tied to the impact of diabetes on their own lives or the lives of immediate family members.
A newly diagnosed local resident volunteered to participate in an on-site interview with a local media outlet, significantly amplifying the reach of the campaign’s educational goals.
Part 3: Vacation Bible School (VBS) Summer Camp Launch – Monday, June 29, 2026

VBS Station
Following the weekend’s public initiatives, the church officially launched its annual Vacation Bible School (VBS) Summer Camp.
- Registration: The program opened with strong enrollment, securing a robust cohort of local children for the week’s interactive educational and recreational curriculum.
- Cross-Program Engagement: Notably, a segment of the registered children had also participated in the Family Fun Walk the previous day. This overlap suggests that the public health campaign served as an effective touchpoint, successfully motivating families to engage further with the church’s subsequent youth programming.
